GAGNON AND COSTELLO FUNERAL HOME
In 1943 Gagnon Funeral Home was founded by J. Victor Gagnon, after his retirement, his daughter and son-in law Louise and Donald Costello owned and operated the Funeral Home. In May of 2009 Mr. Steven Farner purchased the business from Donald and Louise Costello, where he resides as sole owner, until his sons Andrew S. Farner and Timothy G. Farner joined their dad as Owners and Operators of the Funeral Home in 2016.
SMITH AND WALKER FUNERAL HOME
In 1881 Lebeus E. Smith, the town of Putnam’s first Mayor established the business. He was joined by Leon N. Walker in 1918 and became a partner of the business in 1919. Mr. Walker became the sole owner in 1936. In April of 1960 the Smith and Walker Funeral Home merged with the L.A. Robinson Funeral Home, operated by Mr. Robinson and Mr. Earl Gagnon, which resided at our current location. In 1991 Mr. Steven Farner purchased the business from Mr. Gagnon’s son, Earl W. Gagnon, where he resides as sole owner, until his sons Timothy G. Farner and Andrew S. Farner joined their dad as Owners and Operators of the Funeral Home in 2016.
