Richard “BABE” R. Hebert, Sr., 78, of Rogers, died on July 24, 2011. The beloved husband of Dorothy (Kaczor) Hebert, they were married on July 9, 1955 at St. Ignatius Church in Rogers with Rev. Auclair officiating. He was born in Goodyear, CT, on November 1, 1932, son of the late Adelard and Marie (Suprenant) Hebert. While growing up he attended local schools including Killingly High School. Following his education, Mr. Hebert entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. John R. Pierce DD753. He Received the Korean Service Medal with one Engagement Star, United Nations Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge on December 28, 1953, Mr. Hebert worked at Rogers Corporation until his retirement in 1995. He was a Communicant of St. Ignatius Church in Rogers and later St. Joseph church in Dayville. Babe was an avid UCONN Huskies and Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed playing cards and walking Richard is survived by his wife Dorothy, two sons, Richard Hebert, Jr. and his wife Susan of Stafford Springs, CT, Randy Hebert of Union, CT, a daughter, Diane Casaceli and her husband Steven of Southborough, MA, a brother, Valmore Hebert of Springfield, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Ephreme Palardy, Adelard, Norman and Rene, and seven sisters, Clarice Baker, Albena Couture, Marie Bourque, Rosalind Gosselin, Jean Billings, Cecile Poitras and Doris Mozzer. A Memorial Mass will be Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville, CT. Military Honors following service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 790 Maple Ave. Hartford, CT 06114.
