Robert L. Reiss Died - July 19, 2012 Robert Linton Reiss, 88, of Eastford, formerly of Milford, died peacefully in his home on July 19, 2012. He is survived by daughters Pamela Reiss and Debra Reiss, grandchildren Melanie Larivee, Richard George and Robert George and great-grandchildren Emma and Drew Larivee. He is also survived by wife Evelyn Reiss, step-children John Schumacher, Paula Welter and Mark Schumacher, grandchildren Jeremy Lehning, Connie Lehning-Criley, Jacob Lehning, Jesse Schumacher, Bonnie Schumacher and numerous great-grandchildren. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He and his wife owned and operated Charlie Brown Campground in Eastford for 23 years. He was a proud 60 year Mason from Ansantawae Lodge. Robert was a manufacturing engineer who shared his talents with Milford Rivet, Reed & Prince, Russell Harrington and FTI. He was a former First Selectman of Eastford, and an active member of Abington Congregational Church. He was also a former president of CT Campground Owners Assoc. Calling hours Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Funeral service Wednesday 10:00 am at Abington Congregational Church, 542 Hampton Road, Pomfret, CT. Graveside services Wednesday 2:00 pm at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Abington Congregational Church, PO Box 289, Pomfret, CT 06259.
