Obituary of Estelle L. Basley
Estelle L. Basley November 24, 1920 - January 12, 2009 KILLINGLY/BROOKLYN - Estelle L. Basley, 88, formerly of Proulx St. died on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Webster Manor in Webster, MA. She was the wife of the late Victor A. Basley, who died on February 1, 1990. They were married on June 19, 1936. Born in Putnam on November 24, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William and Epherinia (Martin) Joly.
She attended St. Mary School in Putnam. Upon completion of her education, she went to work until her marriage in 1936. The family settled in Dayville, where she devoted herself to the care and raising of her family. In 1955, she worked as an assembler at Arrow-Hart and remained there for sixteen years. She then worked at Rogers Corp. and at the Killingly High School Cafeteria, until her retirement. Mrs. Basley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Anne Church in Ballouville.
She leaves two sons, Merle V. Basley and his wife Beverly of Dayville and Cliff W. Basley and his wife JoAnn of Danielson; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters Antoinette Picard, Irene Hebert, Rachel Molinaro, Doris Ouilette and Sybil Luft.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Danielson with Fr. LeCours officiating. Private burial will take place in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Allegiance Hospice, 67 Middle St., Suite 503, Lowell, MA 01852. Gagnon-Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson is in charge of arrangements.
