Obituary of Roland J. Ross
Roland J. Ross, 83, of Brooklyn, formerly of East Putnam, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 4, 2009, at home. He was born March 21, 1926 in Derby, VT.
He owned and operated Ross Recycling in East Putnam for over 50 years; he was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the US Army. He has made his home in Brooklyn for the last year moving from East Putnam where he had made his home most of his life. He enjoyed trips to the ocean, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He enjoyed working in his vegetable, flower and rose gardens and caring for his yard. He loved his dogs and cats.
He leaves his sons: Eugene Ross and his wife Lorna Wilson of Grosvenordale; Roland Ross and his wife Brenda of Abington; Leonard Ross and his wife Linda of Putnam, daughters: Nancy Brochu and her husband Gill of Bristol; Mary Breton and her husband Kyle of Brooklyn; Joyce Boutin and her husband Mark of Grosvenordale, Tammy Gregory and her husband Lance of Putnam; his longtime companion, Lucita Mooney of Brooklyn, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors in Munyan Cemetery, Putnam.
