Obituary of Mary Ryan Macdonald
Mary Ryan Macdonald, age 76, of Alexander's Lake, a long time Pomfret Resident, died Monday, August 3, 2009 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of 55 years of John T. Macdonald. She was born January 13, 1933 in Worcester, daughter of the late William E. and Albina T. (Woznicki) Ryan.
Mary received her Registered Nursing Degree in 1953 from Memorial Hospital. A communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church, she was elected and served two terms on The Pomfret Library Board, was a Justice of the Peace, a commodore of the Pontefract Boat Club, a member of the Alexander Lake Yacht Club and a proud member of Red Sox Nation. Mary was the school nurse at the Rectory School for several years.
She leaves in addition to her husband John, four sons: John Macdonald, Jr. and his wife Julieanne of West Hartford; James Macdonald of Georgetown, SC; Jeffrey Macdonald and his wife Rhonda of Vienna, VA; Scott Macdonald and his wife Sylvia of Media, PA; grandchildren: Sarah; Skye; Aedan; Kelly; Ryan; Danny; Michael and John.
The Funeral will be Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 9:15 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery in Putnam. Calling Hours Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home.
