Obituary of Gloria Ann Rumfola-Farner

Gloria Ann (Anger) Rumfola-Farner On Friday, November 30, 2012 Gloria A. Rumfola-Farner of Thornton, CO lost her battle with cancer. She was 74 years old. Gloria was born August 27, 1938 in Buffalo, NY to Charles and Grace (Meredith) Anger. She was the third of five children. On November 23, 1957 she married Mr. Dean N. "Chief" Rumfola of Springville, NY. Tragically she was widowed on Mother's Day, May 6, 1963, only six months after the birth of their son, Dean Rumfola. In 1966, Gloria married Mr. Henry J. Farner of West Valley, NY. On November 25, 1972 they were blessed with a son, Joel H. Farner, who sadly died from complications on November 28, 1972. In July of 1973, Henry and Gloria were blessed with the gift of another son, Jeremy Farner. During her lifetime Gloria worked tirelessly in the medical field, including many years as a Nurse in Hospice. She has been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Thornton, CO and can be best described as having a strong character. Gloria is survived by her two loving sons, Dean (wife Kimberly Platzke Rumfola) of Brighton, CO and Jeremy (partner Joshua Porter) of Brandon, FL; her grand-daughter Lily (daughter of Dean & Kimberly); sisters Joan (Tom, deceased) Armstrong of Hamburg, NY; Carol (Alan) Domes of West Valley, NY; and Richard (Patricia) Anger of North Java, NY. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Jane Schill. A viewing will be held at Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home located at 271 East Main St., Springville, NY 14141 on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 between 11:00am and 1:30pm immediately followed by a memorial service. Gloria will be interred at Maplewood Cemetery in Springville next to her late husband and son following the memorial. The family wants to extend their thanks and love to everyone that has reached out to them and Gloria during her final weeks.
