Obituary of Mary Patenaude
Pomfret - Mary Harrington Patenaude, 66, passed in a tragic boating accident while on her boat, Priceless, on Sunday. Mary lived in Pomfret, CT with her husband David, they were married August 16, 1967. Mary was born September 2, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Mee) Harrington.
She was the proprietor of the Pomfret Spirit Shoppe and Wine Shed. Originally from Beachwood, NJ, Mary graduated from St. Rose High School in Toms River, NJ before earning her Bachelor's degree from Boston College as a member of the class of 1967. Mary was involved with several civic organizations including the Day Kimball Hospital Board, Past Director of the Putnam Area Chamber of Commerce, President of the South Cemetery in Pomfret, Pomfret Republican Town Committee, Board of Directors of Putnam Bank, Hospice Tree of Life and Community Cultural Committee (3 C's). Her support for community was matched only by her love of life and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and who's life she touched.
In addition to her husband, David, Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Rebecca Patenaude of Pomfret, her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer Patenaude and Brad Fitts of Acton, MA four grandchildren, Austin and Ashley Fitts, Rori MacKenzie and Hattie Patenaude.
Calling Hours will be Friday, August 24, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. A Memorial Service will be Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Chapel at Pomfret School, 398 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT. A reception will follow at SELAH Farms, 507 Pomfret Street, Pomfret Center, CT.
