Doris was always a lady - and a very fshionable one at that! When I took over her second grade classroom when she moved up to third, it was with great trepidation! I did not think I could ever come close to being the second grade teacher that she had been. All students loved her, yet they respected her. She was so smart and witty. I always felt badly when she would get pneumonia on a yearly basis it seemed. When she came back, she was weak, but I don't think she ever let anyone know. She loved her family, especially her husband of so many years. And her closet! How I envied that! Always the lady, she had an altoid ready to offer after lunch! It is said that if you have your health you have everything. I think Doris had everything except that. Doris was a friend for life. I admired her, respected her, and always thought she was such a great teacher. Someone told me once that it is so awesome when the good God calls loved ones home on such special days. Doris will always be remembered regardless of when He called her home!
