Obituary of Rachel E. Hilton
Rachel Hilton, 100, formerly of Ella Grasso Apartments, Putnam, died February 25, 2010 at the Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was born July 15, 1905 in Williamsburg, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Johnson) Todd.
She moved to Woodstock at the age of three and educated in the one room School House and Woodstock Academy. She was predeceased by her first husband Laurio Bodo in 1963 and her second husband Roswell Hilton in 1993. She was a member of the Putnam Congregational Church, active in many church actives. Rachel was a member of the Putnam Women's Club, The Betty Putnam Chapter #106 Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered many years for the Visiting Nurse blood banks and many years at the Day Kimball Hospital. She worked as a sale clerk at the former Bugbee's Department Store and Pevners in Putnam.
She leaves a daughter: Ann L. Viens; two grandsons: Raymond Viens; Michael Viens; a granddaughter: Lisa Morissette, four great grandchildren: Kayla and Alyce Viens; Jenny and Brittany Morissette. She was predeceased by a brother William Todd and a sister Martha Day.
