I visited with Gloria each Sunday for the last year of her life. We would talk, sing, read scripture and pray. I will miss our time together. She had deep faith in Christ and a love for her family that was evident to all who knew her at Westview. Gloria was a real firecracker. I met her when I walked by her room and we made eye contact. She waved her hand, beckoning me to come into her room and she introduced herself, and began to ask me questions. I told her I came on Sundays to read the bible with anyone who was interested. She said she’d love that and she talked about a white bible that she had somewhere, but couldn’t find. I read Psalm 27 for her and when it was over she burst into applause!
When I asked Gloria if she had children, she said this; “Well Larry and I had two children… but the second one turned out to be twins!” She was very witty like that... She spoke very highly of Larry and their three sons. She spoke often of East Hartford and of a beautiful lake house. She talked about Old Sturbridge Village and traveling and her mother who she greatly missed. Gloria has graduated from this world and is home with the Lord, reunited with loved ones passed, and waiting for the rest of us to join them. Even so, I’ll miss her ‘till then.
