Obituary of Helen Louise Corey Fontaine

Thompson - Helen Louise Corey Fontaine, 93, of Mountain Hill Road, North Grosvenordale, CT died Wednesday evening, August 4, 2010, at home. She was the beloved wife of Ferdinand Fontaine, he died in 1987. She was born February 15, 1917 in Hartford, daughter of the late Frank and Lucy (Duety) Beers.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale. She enjoyed sewing and crossword puzzles. She was devoted to her family, a loving caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She leaves her eight children: Virginia (Corey) Zaloudek and her husband Bernard of Coventry, RI; Arthur "Buster" Corey, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Putnam, CT; Linda (Corey) Groh and her husband Lawrence of Thompson; Janice (Corey) Herrick of North Grosvenordale, with whom she made her home; Nancy (Corey) Mahon and her husband Edward of Philadelphia, TN; Diane (Corey) Adams and her husband James of Wauregan, CT; Alan Corey and his wife Susan of Union, CT; Frank Corey of Brooklyn, CT, her sister Elizabeth Cowles of Avon, CT; 30 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Florence Hill in 2010.

The Funeral will be Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:30 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home 148 Grove Street, Putnam with a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Joseph Church, 12 Main St. North Grosvenordale. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery. A Calling Hours Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of NE CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
