Herbert W. Leach, 83 of Tatnic Hill Road, Brooklyn, died Saturday March 19, 2011 at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Ladd) Leach, they were married in 2002. He was born September 2, 1927 in Lynn, MA, son of the late Herbert W. and Helen (Urquhart) Leech. He worked as a manager for Veeder-Root Company for 18 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army as a medic. He was a member of the Federated Church of Christ in Brooklyn, a collector of G-Scale Trains. Herbert had made his home in Brooklyn for several years, formerly of Woodstock and Vernon. He leaves his wife Shirley of Brooklyn, his son Mark Douglas Leach and his wife Roxanne of Hamden, CT; his step children: Marguerite Kissa of KY and Sidney Wing of OK; his sister Beatrice Hastings of MN, and several beloved grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Elmwood Cemetery, Bolton Road and Cemetery Road, Vernon, CT. Calling Hours Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
