Obituary of Genevieve Racine
Danielson - Genevieve Racine, 92, of Westfield Village, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Westview Nursing Home in Dayville. She was born on June 2, 1918 in North Dartmouth, MA, daughter of the late Marion and Deolinda (Correia) Leite.
She attended the Killingly Schools. She worked at Royal Robes in Plainfield as a stitcher. On September 2, 1939 she married Napoleon Racine in St. Joseph Church Dayville by Father Mathieu. In 1950 she went to work at Rogers Corporation as a press operator; a position she held until her retirement in 1980. Upon her retirement she traveled with the Putnam Travelers. She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church. She loved dancing and as a senior she took lessons and taught dancing.
She leaves a son Ronald Racine of Attawaugan, CT; two daughters Joyce Ricci of Danielson and Sandra Poirier of Brooklyn, CT; a brother Valmore Leite of Austin, TX; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother Manuel Leite and three sisters Rose Hewitt, Beatrice Cooper, Olinda Souza and a favorite son-in-law Sam Poirier.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
