Obituary of John M. Tatem

John M. Tatem, 94, of Eastford, CT, died unexpectedly Monday at the Day Kimball Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth (Peterson) Tatem, she died in 1996. He was born November 19, 1916 in Willimantic, CT, son of the late Harry and Margaret (MacNeil) Tatem. He was a 1935 graduate of the Carson Long Military Academy. John was associated with the family business, TatemManufacturing in Eastford for over forty years. John was a printer at Shore Line Times in Guilford, retiring in 1975. He had attended the High Pointe Church in Thompson and the Eastford Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Connecticut State Police Auxiliary and the Eastford Volunteer Fire Department. John made his home in Eastford most of his life, and spent many winters in Florida. He leaves his daughters: Margaret Jackson and her husband Robert of Fishers, IN; Cynthia Foskett and her husband Harold of Woodstock; a brother StewartTatem of Eastford; grandchildren: Dr. Robert Jackson, II; Dr. Thomas Jackson; Susan Bill; Sharon Harmon, Craig Kallgren; Duane Kallgren; John Kallgren; Carl R. Kallgren; 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Olive Walker and his stepmother Floy Tatem. Funeral Service will be Saturday May 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, Calling Hours will be Saturday from 9:30 to time of service.
