Obituary of Doris E. Savoie
Doris E. Savoie, 92, of Lisbon, CT, formerly of Danielson, died Monday at the Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam. She was the wife of Arthur J. Savoie, they were married September 30, 1939, he died in 1975. Born March 5, 1919 in N. Grosvenordale, daughter of the late Henry and Sylvia (Blanchette) St. Germain.
She attended Wilsonville Elementary School. After moving to Danielson she attended St. James School and Killingly High School. She was employed at several area mills including the former Powdrell and Alexander Mill, working in the lace department and later at Majestic Company in Moosup, working as a polisher. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Taftville and St. James Church in Danielson.
She leaves her son Dr. Dennis Savoie of Cooperstown, NY; a brother Henry St. Germain of Putnam, three grandsons: Mathew, Benjamin, Jonathan, two great grandchildren: Nathaniel and Christopher, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Emile St. Germain, Berthe Brouillard, Ida Landry, Oliver St. Germain and Lorraine Senecal.
The Funeral will be Friday at 10:00 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. www.gagnonandcostellofh.com
