Obituary of Muriel Ann Klemola

Muriel Ann "Mimi" Klemola, 72, of Pomfret Center, CT, died Saturday at the Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the wife of Allan M. Klemola, he died in 1992. She was born December 18, 1938 in Hartford, daughter of the late Norton and Viola (Dingwell) Warner. She had worked as a cook at the Pomfret Community School for over 15 years. She had made her home in Pomfret since 1958, a member of the Abington Congregational Church, where she was a Sunday School Superintendent and a teacher, and a member of the Womens Guild; A member of the Wolf Den Grange, and received the Golden Sheaf Award. Muriel was a cat lover, enjoyed puzzles, trips to Cape Cod and was a Rainbow Girl. In her youth she was a member of an Accordion Band. She was active with the Girl Scout Troop #5133 in Pomfret, serving as a leader for several years. She leaves her son, Richard and his wife Cindy (Knight) Klemola of Pomfret Center; her daughter Kimberly Mele and her husband Vincent of Torrington; two brothers Charles Warner of Stuart, FL; Robert Warner of Hebron; three grandsons: James, Jeffery and Andrew, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Carol Houghton. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Abington Congregational Church, 542 Hampton Road, Pomfret. Calling hours Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial in Abington Cemetery.
