Obituary of Muriel Eddy
Muriel M. Eddy, 82, of Woodstock, CT, died peacefully on Saturday, June 18 at home. Born on April 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. and May (Frost) Durrin. She was married to her loving husband, Byron Eddy for 55 years before he passed in 2008.
A graduate of Woodstock Academy, Muriel worked as a secretary at Belding Hemingway in Putnam and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. She lived in West Hartford and Miami before returning back to Woodstock where she remained. As a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, she was involved with the Women's Fellowship, was an active member of the Woodstock Republicans, and volunteered at Day Kimball Hospital. Muriel traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe with her family, enjoyed bird watching and was an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan.
Muriel was predeceased by her sister, Norine Anderson and a brother, Albert Durrin. She leaves her son, Ross Eddy and his wife Susan C. of Thompson; her daughters, Susan Durrin (Eddy) Motley and her husband Robert of Woodstock; and Diane Siegmund and her husband Kurt of Pomfret; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Jonathan and Julia Eddy; Isabelle and Robert Motley and Clara Siegmund. She also leaves behind her faithful Westie, Angus.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Woodstock. A private burial took place on Wednesday, June 22 at Elmvale Cemetery in Woodstock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Woodstock Academy Foundation, 57 Academy Road, Woodstock, CT 06281.
