Obituary of Arthur N. Withey
Arthur N. Withey, 93, of Woodstock Valley, died at his home Friday, July 29, 2011 with his wife, Faith J. (Lee) Withey at his side. He was born April 7, 1918 in Thompson, son of the late Henry and Eva (Braman) Withey.
He had made his home in Woodstock Valley for the past 54 years. Mr. Withey was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving five years in the African-European theatre with the rank of sergeant. He was employed by the Package Machine Company in East Long Meadow, MA, retiring in 1983. Arthur was a life member of the N.R.A., an avid sportsman. He also was a life member of the Good Sam Club and the National AARP and Arthur loved to travel.
He leaves his wife Faith J. Withey of Woodstock Valley, nieces and nephews, Shirley Geel of East Machias, ME, Charlotte Proulx of Bangor, ME, Arthur Saxton of Stonington, CT, Virginia Jones of Stonington, CT, and Shirley Perry of Groton, CT. Arthur was predeceased by two sisters, May Saxton of Groton, CT, Grace Stoddard of East Machias, ME, and two nephews, Raymond Saxton and Albert Saxton.
To my darling husband, my lover and my best friend, our lives together have been wonderful and exciting. We worked together to build a home, it wasn't the latest up to date model, but it was always comfortable, warm and full of love.
A Memorial Service will be Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Thompson Congregational Church, 347 Thompson Road (Route 193) Thompson, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Thompson Congregational Church, PO Box 308, Thompson, CT 06277.
