Obituary of John S. Leandro

John S. Leandro, 80, of Wauregan passed away peacefully on Monday August 1, 2011 at Regency Heights in Danielson. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Ferreira DeSilva) Leandro. They were married on September 5, 1958 in San Miguel Azores, Portugal. He was born on March 9, 1931 in Azores Portugal, the son of the late Jose and Maria (Fernandes) Leandro. John worked for Jacob's Rubber for over 20 years. John also worked for 16 years as the Plainfield School crossing guard and he was loved by all the children he helped. He leaves his wife Maria Leandro of Brooklyn, CT; his daughters Filomena Figueras and her husband Danny of Miami, Fl; Maria Rosaria Stewart and her husband Craig of Coventry, CT; Margarida Taylor and her husband Ed of Willington, CT, brothers David Leandro of Plainfield, CT; Serafim Leandro of Pawtucket, RI, sister Conceicao Rosa of Pawtucket, RI, his grandchildren: Benjamin, Jessica, Kristal, Nicholas, Kyle and Curtis, his four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be Thursday August 4, 2011 at 10:30 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St, Danielson followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 620 Wauregan Rd, Wauregan, CT. Calling hours will be Wednesday August 3, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery Wauregan, CT.
