Margaret Warren Day, 100, of Eastford died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late John Henry Day. They were married on September 28, 1934 and he died December 21, 1959. Margaret was born April 13, 1911 in Eastford, daughter of the late William S. and Lillian (Bosworth) Warren. Margaret graduated from Putnam High Business Department in June of 1929; she worked at Windham County Farm Bureau office in Putnam. She was an active lifelong member in the Congregational Church of Eastford where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Secretary as well as being active in the Women's Fellowship of the Church. Margaret was Town Treasurer in Eastford for 41 years from 1938-1979. She was active in youth work with the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, 4-H Camp and Day Care. Margaret was secretary at Whitcraft Corp. in Eastford for 19 years. On April 13, 2011 the town of Eastford declared it "Margaret Day Day" in honor of her 100 years of life. She is survived by a daughter Margaret (Peg) D. Pittman of Eastford, grandchildren Christopher J. Pittman and his wife Jennifer of Eastford, Denis A. Day and his wife Marsha of Eastford, Valerie D. Breton of Woodstock, great grandchildren Austin, Cadence, Madalyn, Michelle and Joseph, a daughter-in-law Patricia Day of Eastford and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John Henry Day, sons Allen J. Day, Roger M. Day and Henry Warren Day. Margaret was close to all of her siblings that had predeceased her, William S. Warren, Carolyn W. Day and Alfred C. Warren. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Congregational Church of Eastford, 8 Church Road, Eastford, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Roger Day Scholarship Fund, Eastford Elementary School, c/o Linda Loretz, PO Box 158, Eastford, CT 06242.
