Obituary of Gerald L. Gibeault
Gerald L. Gibeault, 91 of Brooklyn, went to be with the love of his life Saturday, December 17, 2011.The beloved husband of Aline (Perreault) Gibeault, they were married July 4, 1947 at Our Lady of LaSalette Church in Brooklyn, she passed away June 2, 2009. He was born November 22, 1920 in Wauregan, son of the late Louis and Alma (Jette) Gibeault.
He attended Goodyear School and Killingly High School, upon completion of his education he worked at the family grocery store Louis Gibeault Grocery in Goodyear. He entered the US Army and served with the US Army Air Corp in World War Two. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the family business until he went to work for the Killingly Board of Education as a custodian. Gerald became Head Custodian for the Killingly Central School and was also a school bus driver. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Idaho. He was communicant of ST James Church. He enjoyed spending time in his wood shop, making things for his children and grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed watching their grandchildren at their sporting events and were very proud of their athletic accomplishments, and that all of their grandchildren attended college.
He leaves his children and their spouses: Gerald G. Gibeault and his wife Gloria of Idaho Falls, ID; Roland E. Gibeault and his wife Carmen of Brooklyn; David R. Gibeault and his wife Susan of Brooklyn, Jeanne Marie Lenz and her husband Don of Ashton, ID, Leanne G. Gibeault of Brooklyn, Peggy R. Traub and her husband Dan of Kent, 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Roland and his sister Jeanne.
Calling hours Thursday from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St, Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
