Obituary of Anita Rossi

Anita C. Rossi, 93, of Putnam, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Federico Rossi, they were married in Italy in 1939, he died April 12, 1989. She was born December 4, 1918 in Putnam, daughter of Aldo and Ines (Simonzi) Berti. Anita was employed for over 30 years as an assembler at American Optical working in Putnam and Southbridge, MA. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. As a young child Anita moved with her family back to Italy. In 1939 she married and in 1951 she returned with her husband and children to Putnam, where they made their home. Anita was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, her family always came first. She enjoyed her home and her flower gardens. She leaves her children: Iride Pearce and her husband George of Woodstock; Enzo Rossi and his wife Donna of Buffalo, WY; Bruno Rossi and his wife Donna of North Grosvenordale; Mary Ann Rossi of Thompson, her beloved grandchildren Laura, Janice, Melissa, Beth, Christopher, several nieces and nephews in the US and Italy. She was predeceased by her siblings Sergio Berti, Dino Berti, Nella Palombo, and a granddaughter, Susan Pearce. Funeral Service will be Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam.
