Obituary of John P. Alex

John P. Alex, 72, of Putnam, died peacefully Monday, February 20, 2012 surrounded by his family at UMASS Memorial, Belmont St. in Worcester, MA. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Coolidge) Alex. John was born on April 19, 1939 in Worcester, MA, son of the late John and Margaret (Cyronek) Alex. John worked twenty five years at Marane Oil Corp. Most recently he worked for Mohegan Sun Casino for fourteen years as a Limo Driver. John had a passion for coaching his children to play Ice Hockey. He loved to swim in the cold Atlantic Ocean in Cape Cod and off the coast of Maine. Survived by his wife Kathleen, children; Stephen Alex of MA, Christopher Alex and his wife Melisssa of HI, Lisa Gallagher and her husband Terry of MA, Karen Champlin and her husband Thomas of MA, Craig Alex and his fiancé Barbara Jean of MA, stepchildren; Jerri Perreault and her husband Gary of CT, Elizabeth Zimner and her husband Robert of CT, Corleen Law and June Reardon of RI, David Law of CA, grandchildren; Meagan, Morgan, Mikaela, Erica, Robert, Nicholas, Shaun, Keith, Kyle, and Keegan, step grandchildren; Ryan, Kyle, Chelsea, Alexander, Zachary and Nicholas; a great grandson Michael. Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. Calling Hours will be from 10:00 AM to the start of the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in South Killingly Cemetery.
