Lydia Gagnon
September 3, 1959 - , March 9, 2012
Lydia Gagnon, 52, of Putnam, died Friday at Women's and Infants Hospital in Providence, RI embraced by her loving family. She was born in Chicopee, MA, daughter of Theresa Bergeron and the late Russell Bergeron. Beloved wife of David Gagnon, mother of two daughters, Kim Haynes and her husband Peter; Danielle Payne and her husband David and Memé to Carter Payne, Amelia Haynes and Vayda Payne, sister of Susan Barry.
Lydia was a Certified Dental Assistant for the office of Dr. Stephen Solomon working for the past 25 years. The love of her career path brought many lasting relationships with her co-workers and patients. Lydia's passion for life was based on her love of her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She took great pride organizing the family with her plans to bring us together on many destinations which provided everlasting memories. She also enjoyed making sure her entire family had special meals and treats regularly. Her passion for providing for her family will surely be missed.
She had enormous strength and held on to this strength until the end. She would still be here with us today if it was not for the devastating cancer progression. Her battle although brief has inspired her family to continue to battle in her place by participating in the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Lydia and her family participated in the 5K walk/run to break the silence of Ovarian Cancer.
Calling Hours 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in memory of Lydia be made to The Lydia Gagnon Memorial Fund - NOCC-RI Chapter, c/o Putnam Bank, PO Box 151, Putnam, CT 06260. David, Kim and Danielle,
I wanted you to know that whenever your mom and I would talk, the topic of how much her family meant to her was always the most important. Her grandchild were no doubt her pride and joy. She lived by her motto," She loved you all to the moon and back." How lucky to be loved that much. Annette

Very sad by the loss of my sister and friend, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt Where she is...free from pain and sorrow...and that gives me great joy. I stumbled on this scripture while reading this morning and thought of Lydia, because she loved to shop and decorate. Shopping with Lydia is one of my best memories...especially shopping with all 5 children while they were growing up! So much fun and good times we had...lots of "mishaps" and tons of laughs. So here is the scipture and one I will hold dear for the rest of my life.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." ~John 14:1-3~
I'm sure Lydia has already decorated her "place" in Heaven just waiting to see us all enjoy it with her one day!
