Obituary of Arthur Lincoln Back
Arthur Lincoln Back, 73, of Woodbridge Street, Manchester, CT, died unexpectedly at home Friday, August 31, 2012. He was born February 8, 1939 in Putnam, son of the late Lincoln Grant and Lena Marion (Young) Back.
Arthur worked at the Shady Glen restaurant in Manchester for over 25 years and also the Manchester Stop & Shop. He had made his home in Manchester most of his life. Arthur was active with the Special Olympics, including his love for playing Bocce, Track and Field and the Softball Throw. He also enjoyed playing Miniature Golf and riding on the Essex train. He always enjoyed his time at Camp Kennedy in Manchester. He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and enjoyed his pipe.
He leaves his Life Partner of over 30 years, Carol Ann Southmayd of Manchester.
Funeral Services will be Thursday at 12:00 (Noon) at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. There will be a calling hour Thursday from 11:00 to 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Woodstock, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Arthur's memory to the Special Olympics, 2666 State Street, Hamden, CT 06517.
