Obituary of Phillip L. Salvas

Phillip L. Salvas, Jr., 78, of Ballouville Road, Ballouville, CT, died Monday at the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester, MA after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Menard) Salvas, they were married July 2, 1966. He was born August 2, 1933 in Woodstock, son of the late Phillip L. and Isola (Vadnais) Salvas, Sr. He made his home in Ballouville for 46 years, formerly of Woodstock and he spent his youth in West Thompson. He was a Supervisor at Electric Boat for over 42 years, and also worked in the maintenance Department at Hale Manufacturing for 10 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Navy aboard the USS Intrepid and the USS Valley Forge. He was a member of the Putnam VFW #1523, a member of the Honor Guard for many years and a member of the former American Legion in Ballouville. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his yard, he was a hard working man and his family always came first. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Karen, his sons: Steven Salvas of Danielson; Kenneth Lavallee of Danielson; Craig Salvas of Ballouville; his siblings: Lorraine Turenne of Canandaigua, NY; Pauline Daly of Bemis Point, NY; Earnest Salvas of Danielson; Richard Salvas of Putnam; Connie Stevens of Putnam; Roger Salvas of Woodstock; grandchildren, Ashley, Renee, Cody, Hannah, Kenna, great grandsons, James and Jonathan, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Salvas and Francis Salvas. A Memorial Mass wll be Friday at 10:30 AM in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam with Military Honors. No calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Putnam VFW #1523, 207 Providence Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
