Obituary of Raymond “Pic” Jolicoeur

Raymond "Pic" Jolicoeur, 81 of Putnam, CT, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the beloved husband of Victoria Shirley (Buschka) Jolicoeur, they were married December 1, 1956 in Putnam. He was born September 30, 1930 in Putnam, son of the late Arthur and Delora (Marion) Jolicoeur. Pic worked as a foreman at Electric Boat for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Marines; He was stationed in Italy and was an Embassy Guard. In his youth he was an avid sports fan, playing softball and football. In the 1950's he played softball with the Putnam Hawks. Pic was a long time member of the Quinnatisset County Club and a member of the "7 AM Group", an avid Yankee's fan and golfer, a life member of the Putnam VFW post 1523, was a past commander and had served on numerous committees, he also arranged many of their bus trips over the years. He had a great love for his family especially his grandsons. He leaves in addition to his wife Shirley, his children Denise Tsanjoures and her husband George of East Putnam, Ron Jolicoeur of Downers Grove, Il; his daughter-in-law Judith Jolicoeur of Downers Grove, Il; his sisters Clair Sarette of Putnam; Jeanne Denome of Putnam, Muriel Denomme of Taftville; his grandsons Chris Tsanjoures and Jackson Jolicoeur, several nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. A Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home, followed by burial in ST Mary Cemetery with military honors.
