Obituary of Theresa Szarkowicz

Theresa Szarkowicz, 84, formerly of Mason Hill Road, Dayville, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2012 surrounded by her family. Theresa was born March 21, 1924 in Thompson, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Ambrociewicz) Lada. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Szarkowicz, Sr. for 64 years and lived most of her life in Killingly. Theresa was kind and giving, always putting her children's and husband's needs before her own. She loved children and they brought much joy to her life. Theresa was a bright and proud woman, loved following politics and was a staunch democrat. She was a devout catholic and watched Mass on television every day. Theresa enjoyed cooking and loved finding new recipes to try out for her family. She will be missed by her husband and children, Joseph Szarkowicz, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Brooklyn, her twin daughters Joanne Laflamme of Bristol and Jackie Nair of West Hartford, her grandchildren Alex Szarkowicz, Robyne Joslyn and her husband Steve, Christopher Laflamme and partner Courtney Strong, her great grandchildren Grady Joslyn and Jacob Laflamme, her brother Joseph Lada and his wife Rita, her sister-in-law Teresa Lada, as well as many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her sisters Hattie Lafleur, Helen Aucoin and Wanda Lada, her brothers Charles Lada, Anthony Lada and her son-in-law Robert Nair. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 12 Main Street, North Grosvenordale, CT, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and Thursday 9:15 to 10:15 AM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home 33 Reynolds Street Danielson, CT.
