Obituary of Melanie E. Aulerich
Melanie Elaine (Maheu) Aulerich
February 3, 1947 - July 7, 2012
"Mom" Our mother passed the Saturday morning of July 7th, 2012 in the ICU of Day Kimball Hospital of Putnam, CT. She was the daughter of the late Wallace H., and Dorothy M. (Flagg) Maheu. She was born in Putnam on February 3, 1947.
Our mother was the kindest and most loving person we've known. The spunky and energetic force that she was, she would give you the shirt off her back and feed you even if you weren't hungry.
Painting and crocheting were two of her loves that she excelled at most beautifully-though she would be the last to admit it.
For us three children, she was our heart, our strength and our home. Those who met and knew our mother would agree that she was a kind and loving force of nature who would, one way or another, end up making you smile.
She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Charles H. Aulerich of Danielson; her daughter, Tobie and Tom Smith of Hebron; her son Tracy David Senecal of Putnam; her daughter Gwen A. Aulerich of Pomfret; her brother, Darin and Denise Maheu of Putnam; her brother-in-law James Wheeler of Glastonbury; her brother-in-law John Aulerich and his wife Jane of Rhode Island; Nieces and Nephews; her niece Courtney and Steve Anderson of Lafayette, CA; her niece Kyrstin and Bryce Nihill of Atlantic Highlands, NJ; her nephew and godson Wallace and Staci Wheeler of Florham Park, NJ; her nephew Ryan Maheu of New York, NY; her nephew Kyle Maheu of Putnam; Grandniece and nephews; Nicholas, Christopher and Olivia Anderson of Lafayette, CA; and Emmett James Wheeler of New Jersey.
She was predeceased by her parents Wallace and Dotty Maheu, her brothers, Wallace and Todd Maheu; her sister, Sharon (Maheu) Wheeler, and nephew James Wheeler, Jr.
A private ceremony will be held as per our mother's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The ARC of Quinebaug Valley (www.qvarc.org/donations) 687 Cook Hill Road, Danielson, CT 06239, an organization near and dear to our mother's heart and the rest of our family.
