Obituary of Carl F. Langer
Carl F. Langer, 97, formerly of Thompson, CT and Sebring, FL went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 following a short illness. He leaves a son, Richard and wife Beverly of The Woodlands, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Rowe and husband George of Windsor Locks, CT; grandchildren Kevin, Joseph, and Kelli Langer, Kimberly Volek, Gretchen Eames, Stuart and Nathaniel Rowe, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 52 years, Bertha Joslin, and a son, Douglas Langer of Thompson.
During WWII, Carl worked in the engine room of the Cluett Peabody Mill in North Grosvenordale, CT. Later he had a bottled gas business and perhaps will be remembered most as a beloved bus driver for the Thompson school system and the town Book Mobile. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends here in New England as well as in Florida where he had spent the last 25 winters.
Friends may pay their respects at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St, Putnam, CT on Tuesday, July 24th from 6-8 pm. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St, Oxford, MA on Wednesday, July 25th at 10 am followed by burial in East Thompson Cemetery, East Thompson, CT.
