Obituary of Margot Q. Cassedy
Margot Quackenbush Cassedy, 94 of Charlton, MA, formerly of Woodstock, CT, devoted wife of William A.T. Cassedy III and cherished mother of Nena Cassedy, died peacefully on February 5, 2015. She is survived by her daughter Nena, son Tyler and Turkish son Orhan. Margot lived in many places growing up including Brooklyn, New York, where she was born, and St. Louis, MO where she met her future husband Bill during WWII. Margot created beauty everywhere she lived. Her artistic talent was evidenced in her beautiful home, gardens, drawings and woodcarvings. Margot loved animals and Nature. As a young person she loved horseback riding. In Woodstock she was a Connecticut licensed wildlife and raptor rehabilitator, taking care of injured and orphaned birds and animals. She especially loved raccoons and her domestic flock of chickens, as well as being an avid birdwatcher. Margot was responsible for restoring the Woodstock Arboretum as it's chairman from 1980-2006. Margot was also involved for many years placing and helping students from the American Field Service International Exchange Program and in Woodstock was an English as a Second Language tutor.
A Memorial Service celebrating Margot’s life will be 2:00 PM, May 30, 2015 the Woodstock Congregational Church, 543 Route 169, Woodstock.
