Obituary of Christine Lester

Christine Lester, 93, of North Grosvenordale, CT, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Day Kimball Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Calvin A. Lester. She was born January 19, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of Harry and Thyra (Swanson) Skillman. Christine served in the US Army as a WAC and was a veteran of WWII. She lived most of her adult life in Putnam and Killingly moving to North Grosvenordale in 2004. Her family and friends were her greatest joy and she loved to socialize and entertain. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, handwork, her card group and was a consummate reader. She leaves her children, Calvin L. (Kathleen) Lester of Jacksonville, FL; Lee Beausoleil of Putnam; Lori Lester of Great Falls, SC; Lyn Lester of Dayville; grandchildren, Amy (Preston) Ranton of Branford, Chrissy Lester of Clinton, TN and great-grandson Cooper Ranton. Private Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held in Putnam Heights Cemetery.
