Obituary of Edward Staveski

Edward Staveski 87, of Eastford, Connecticut, died unexpectedly on August 9, 2015. He was the beloved husband for 65 years of June Bosworth Staveski. Ed was one of five children and was born on August 8, 1928 in North Woodstock, to the late George and Agnes (Solska) Staveski. Ed was a graduate of Woodstock Academy and lived his entire life in Northeastern Connecticut. He worked at the UCONN, Storrs campus for many years in Building Services as Manager of General Trades retiring in 1989. After retiring from UCONN, Ed continued to work for many more years as a building official for the Towns of Union and Willington. Ed was always involved in his community, serving in the Eastford Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years as well as having served on the Eastford Board of Education. Ed’s biggest loves were his family, his gardens and his time spent at Crystal Pond. He is survived by his loving wife, June, his sister Jane Staveski of Quineabaug, Conn., his daughter Linda Groher, son-in-law Andrew Groher, South Glastonbury, Conn. and his two granddaughters, Amanda and Melissa, both in New York City, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his son Craig and his brothers, George, Walter and his sister Victoria Antos. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastford Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
