Obituary of William "Bill" Bates

William "Bill" Bates passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Davis Place in Killingly CT on September 7th, 2015. Bill was born on January 7th, 1928 to Rose (Lefleur) and George Bates. A life-long resident of Thompson CT, Bill enjoyed watching sports, woodworking, crossword puzzles, feeding & watching his birds, as well as trying to outwit the squirrels. Bill graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School where he played on the 1944 championship basketball team which was inducted into the school's Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 2014. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn (Carpenter) and his daughter Nanci and her husband Rus. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Church in North Grosvenordale CT.
