Obituary of Theodore R. Austin, Jr.

Theodore R. Austin, Jr., 73, of Dayville, CT, died peacefully Sunday, December 27, 2015 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Joyce Theresa (Serdenia) Austin, they were married October 22, 1966 at Our Lady of La Salette Church in Brooklyn, CT. He was born July 13, 1942 in Dellslow, WV, son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Garnet Belle (Rhoades) Austin. Junior was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church in Central Village, CT. He loved to dance, listen to music, tell jokes, pitch horseshoes and spend time with his dogs. He was a machine operator at Anchor Glass for 25 years and as a driver for the US Postal Service for 15 years. In addition to his wife, Joyce, Junior leaves his children: David Austin and his wife Jessica of Brooklyn; Martin Austin and his companion Lisa Lima of Brooklyn; Melissa Phillips and her husband Michael of Stamford, CT, his grandchildren: Christie, Jason, Kyle, Jonathan, Gillian and Dylan, his siblings: Wilbur Austin, Nancy Heinz, Marion Keener, Terrance Austin, Lilly Mae Matthews, Louise Anne Tenney. Predeceased by siblings: Thomas Rhoades, Judith Anne Austin, Woodrow Austin, Linda Grimes, Charles Austin, A Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson. Burial in Brooklyn South Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
