Obituary of Jeannette P. Jimmo

Jeannette P. Jimmo, 88, of Quinebaug, CT, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of the late Sidney H. Jimmo. They were married March 25, 1967; he died August 4, 1998. She was born October 11, 1927 in Carroll, Maine, daughter of Roy and Minnie (McLaughlin) Smith. She lived in Woodstock since 1965, moving to Quinebaug in 2007. She worked as a packer at a clothes pin factory in Maine and as an inspector at Anchor Glass in Dayville for 26 years, retiring in 1991. Jeannette attended the Hope Community Church in Putnam for many years. She was a member of the Interfaith Stitchers as she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Games, puzzles, traveling and socializing with friends and family were her favorite pastimes. Having lived in Lincoln, Maine for many years, she enjoyed going back to spend her summers with family there. Jeannette was known for her bubbly personality, positive attitude and an infectious laugh. She leaves her children Marlene Ogden of Woodstock, Myron Ogden, Jr. of NH and FL and his partner Claire Audette, and was predeceased by her two sons Woodrow “Woody” Ogden in 2013 and Norman Ogden in 1948. She leaves her daughter-in-law Rose Ogden of Putnam, four grandchildren: Robin Diranian (Mike), Lisa Meehan (Mike), Penny Ogden and Mandy Ogden, ten great grandchildren: Jacob, Madeline, Ethan, Lauren, Ava, Evan, Anna, Alison, twins Hannah and Hailey. She leaves her stepchildren: Karen Crommett and Kim Jacobs and predeceased by stepson Gregory Jimmo, step grandchildren: Derrick, Kyle, Trevor, Wade, Shane, Ginger, Heather, Corey and Kelsie. Jeannette outlived her 11 siblings: Oland Cole, Vaughn Smith, Ruth Clough, John Smith, Bernice Smith, Dalton Smith, Bill Smith, Doreen Murphy, Kenneth Smith, Agnes Sellars, and Walter Smith. She also leaves behind her close friends and nieces: Doris Taylor, Barb DeRoche, Debbie Hawkins and Ruth Perry. Calling hours will be Friday January 1, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and Saturday January 2, 2016 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. followed by a service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude‘s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
