Obituary of James M. Lawrence

James “Jay” M. Lawrence, 81, of Putnam Heights, died Monday Feb. 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Berthiaume) Lawrence, they were married in 1974. He was born February 3, 1935 in Greensboro, NC, son of the late Robert and Maude Lawrence. Jay worked in shipping and receiving at Frito Lay in Dayville for over 25 years, retiring in 2000. He had also worked at Pervel Industries in Plainfield. After retiring he worked as a delivery driver for Racine Printing in Brooklyn. Jay operated a lawn care business for many years, mowing lawns for Benny’s, Sam Wibberley, and for many homeowners in CT and RI. He was well known for his “Red Hat with White Polk-a-Dots. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He leaves in addition to his wife Sandra, his children James Lawrence and his wife Mildred of Charleston, WV; Becky Piccione and her fiancé Dan Langevin of Scotland; Brenda Kneeland and her husband John of Woodstock; Lori Cutts and her husband Crawford of Durham, NC; David Chase of Dayville; Luke Chase and his wife Rose of Dayville, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and his best friend “Suzie”. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Scotland Christian Fellowship Church, 140 Pudding Hill Road, Scotland, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James Lawrence’s memory to Hospice of Northeast CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or Quinebaug Valley Veterinarian Hospital, 616 Wauregan Rd, Danielson, CT 06239.
