Lorraine Beaulac

Obituary of Lorraine Claire Beaulac

Lorraine Claire (Marion) Beaulac, 87, of Putnam, CT, formerly of Attawaugan, CT, passed away at home peacefully on February 16, 2016 surrounded by her family. She met and married her beloved husband, Armand Beaulac, and shared 54 years of married life with him until his passing in 2001. Lorraine was born in 1928 in Hartford, CT, daughter of Eudore and Blanche (Vanesse) Marion. Lorraine grew up on a farm in Dayville located at the property on which Killingly Intermediate School is located. She was a loyal communicant at the Church of St. Anne in Ballouville, CT, and enjoyed playing cards with their many friends and traveling to Florida. After Armand passed away, she also enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her companion Lou Jussaume. Lorraine has lived in Putnam for the past 13 years, making her home with her daughter and son-in-law Carol (Beaulac) and Joseph J. Rice, Sr. In addition to raising her family, she worked for Wm. Prym Company, American Optical and at her daughter’s craft store, The Craft Menagerie, until her retirement. In 2013, Lorraine joyfully attended the ordination to the priesthood of her son David, who serves in the Episcopal Diocese of Albany, NY. The family was blessed to be able to have her home and take care of her to the end, as she had cared for her father in the 90’s when he had suffered from Alzheimer’s. She always took pride in her dress and loved her jewelry, but her best gem was her smile. She was loving and supportive of her entire family, always seeking their happiness. People loved her company knowing there would be a loving conversation (and at some point a giggle or a laugh). We will miss that smile, but are so blessed to have had her with us for so long. She is survived by her children Carol Rice and her husband Joe Rice, Sr. of Putnam; The Reverend David Beaulac and his wife Barbara (Waldron) Beaulac of Queensbury, New York; Marion Lewis of Putnam and her companion Adrien LaPalme of North Grosvenordale, her beloved grandchildren, Joseph J. Rice, Jr.; Kevin D. Rice; Christopher A. Rice, Karen B. West, Daniel W. Beaulac, Adam J. Leidemer and Chris Leidemer, as well as their spouses and partners, and her beloved nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her very special first cousins, Claire Sarrette, Jeanne Denome and Muriel Denome, and of course, she leaves behind her special little dog, “Scrappy”, who stayed faithfully by her side through her last days. Lorraine was predeceased by her sister Claire and her brothers, Norman and Gerald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 350 Harford Pike, Dayville, CT. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Northeast CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or The Hole in the Wall Gang Fund, 555 Long Warf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511.
