Obituary of Raymond W. Szarkowicz
Raymond W. Szarkowicz, 84, of Mason Hill Road, Dayville, died Monday, September 10, 2012 at home. He was born September 5, 1928, on the family farm in Ballouville, son of the late Frank and Magdalena (Stojda) Szarkowicz. He was a 1946 graduate of Killingly High School.
Ray was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. He was employed for 36 years for FC Davis in Danielson as tank truck driver, he was last employed by JP Noonan, retiring in 1993. Ray also was a truck driver for the former Powdrell and Alexander. He owned and operated the family dairy farm on Mason Hill Road, with his brother Joseph for several years. Ray was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Dayville and the former St. Anne Church in Ballouville. He enjoyed Polka dancing and Polka music.
He leaves a brother Joseph Szarkowicz of New Britain, a sister Mary Chrabaszcz of Willimantic; his nephew and constant companion Mark Rzeznikiewicz of Dayville, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Frank, John, Stephen and his sisters Frances Luczak, Victoria Samborski and Anne Rzeznikiewicz.
Calling Hours will be Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville.
