Obituary of Joao M. Lameira

Joao M. Lameira, 88, of School Street, Danielson, CT, died Wednesday at his son's home in Danielson after an illness. He was the husband of Idalia (Domingos) Lameira, they were married in 1950 in St. DaGraca Church in Portugal, she died January 22, 1996. He was born in Brunheiras, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal, January 18, 1924, son of the late Joao Bastista and Maria Luisa Lameira. He worked and lived on the family farm in Portugal. In 1973, he moved with his wife and family to the United States settling in Danielson. He worked as a card tender at the White Cross Inc. in Dayville for 13 years. He served in the Portuguese Army during WWII as a surgical nurse. He enjoyed gardening, raising plants and vegetables, fishing and his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves his son Manuel Lameira and his wife Pamela of Danielson, grandchildren, Linda Lameira and Miguel Lameira, great grandchildren, Blake Briere, Brianna Briere, Trent Briere; his brothers Francisco; Alxandre; sisters, Alzenda, Fernanda, Mandelal and many nieces and nephews. Funeral will Monday at 9:00 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Main Street, Danielson, burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
