Obituary of Jeanne C. Armstrong
Jeanne Cecile (Plourde) Armstrong July 4, 1918 - March 8, 2014 PUTNAM - Jeanne Armstrong, 95, of Putnam, was peacefully called to be with the Lord in Heaven, on early Saturday morning, and died at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Fall River, MA to the late Joseph and Bertha (Plante) Plourde. Jeanne was the beloved wife of the late William Armstrong, celebrating 60 years of marriage. In her early years, Jeanne and her husband enjoyed their involvement with the Indian Motorcycle Club in Springfield, MA. and she also experienced stunt riding sitting on the handle bars of an Indian Chief motorcycle while riding inside a motordrome. Her other interests were watching the Boston Red Sox and Nascar Racing, playing cards, and crocheting. She also treasured visits with all of her family. Throughout her life, she continued to be a housewife and loving mother, raising four children which she leaves behind: Robert Armstrong Sr. (and wife Sandy) of Erie, PA, Erle Armstrong Sr. of Putnam, Anita Hodges previously of Springfield, MA, and Patricia Mayo (husband Jesse) of Putnam. Jeanne was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two of her sisters: Gloria Chenail of Danielson, Delores Kingsbury (and her husband Bill) of Thompson, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Anita LaVine of Whitinsville, MA. All funeral arrangements have been made with Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St. Putnam, CT on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Calling hours will begin at 10 A.M. and are followed by a Christian service at 11A.M. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of Northeast CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT.
