Obituary of Wayne Patrick Walker

Wayne Patrick Walker, 72, formerly of Woodstock, CT, son of Josephine Anna Dombrowski Walker, passed away in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Friday, March 28, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia Krott Walker, his daughters Pauline Griffith and her husband Andrew of Rockville, MD, Cynthia Cox and her husband Kevin of Carlisle, MA and Suzanne Petri and her husband David "Lee" of Waltham MA, his sisters Patricia Golebiewski and her husband Richard of Meridan CT, Cheryl Walker of West Yarmouth MA, his five grandchildren Erin, Dana, Allison, Christopher and Matthew, and scores of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. Wayne was born on August 28, 1941, in New Haven, CT. He graduated from Eli Whitney Technical High School, in Hamden, CT in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1962. Assigned to the USS Enterprise, he toured the Mediterranean and sailed around the world. After being discharged from the Navy he began a career as a salesman, which culminated with his starting his own firm, New England Coastal Sales in 1987. In 1994 Wayne realized a lifelong dream when he purchased a 28' sailboat that he fittingly christened "Morpheus." Subsequent summers were spent largely on Narragansett Bay, happily cruising the waters off New England. Wayne was a member of Danielson lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and has been a member of the Elks for 50 years. He also was head usher for the many Episcopal churches he attended, including Christ Church. Wayne will be remembered and missed by so many for his unending enthusiasm, charm and wit. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Friday April 4th 5-8pm at Smith and Walker Funeral Home 148 Grove Street Putnam, CT. Funeral services be held on Saturday April 5th at 11am at Christ Church 521 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT.
