Obituary of Genevieve Daigle
Genevieve "Geneva" Daigle, 94, of Sabin Street, Putnam, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Westview Health Care in Dayville. She was the wife of Aime Daigle, married July 4, 1940. Aime died in 1981. Geneva was born November 26, 1919 in Union, CT, daughter of the late Steven and Viktoria (Pawlikowski) Lemanski. She was a 1937 graduate of Woodstock Academy, and a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church. She worked for over 32 years as an assembler at American Optical in Putnam and Southbridge, MA, retiring in 1981. She also worked with the Foster Grandparent Program at the Goodyear Early Childhood Center in Rogers where she was known as "Grandma Gena."
Geneva was active for many years with the Putnam and Woodstock Senior Citizens, and was a member and past president of the Putnam Emblem Club. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and school activities and was an avid Red Sox and UConn Women's Basketball fan. Her pastimes included playing cards, board games, reading and doing word puzzles.
She leaves her daughter Geraldine Teja and her husband Ted of Woodstock; grandsons Matthew Teja and his wife Pam of Natick, MA; Christian Teja and his fiancée Patty Furey of Holbrook, MA; great grandchildren Jude, Graham and Marlo Teja all of Natick, MA; several nieces and nephews including a special niece Paula Nelson of Woodstock. She was predeceased by her daughter Christine in 2004.
Funeral , Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Street, Pomfret, CT. Calling Hours Friday June 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
