Obituary of Harley J. Hill, Sr.

Harley J. Hill Sr., 73, of Pomfret Center, CT, died July 8, 2014 at Day Kimball Hospital. The beloved husband of 46 years to Bernadette (Asselin) Hill. They were married in 1968. He was born May 16, 1941 in St. Albans, VT, son of Carl C. and Pearl F. (Levis) Hill. He attended Pomfret Community School and was a 1961 graduate of Putnam High School. Harley worked as a machinist and R & D at Pratt and Whitney for over 34 years. He was a member of the Pomfret Fire Department for 53 years and served as Chief for 16 years, served as a member of the Pomfret Fire District for 38 years, a Constable for the Town of Pomfret for 25 years and a member of the Putnam Elks Lodge BPOE 574. In addition to his wife Bernadette, he leaves his sons Michael E. Hill and his wife Charlene of Moosup, CT, Harley J. Hill, Jr. and his wife Kirstin of Woodstock, CT, James L. Hill and his wife Justine of Rockford, MN, Jeffrey A. Hill and his wife Beth of Wakefield, RI, grandchildren Amanda Dasi and her husband Bhavin, Patrick Hill, Ashley Hill, Allison Hill, Thomas Hill, Jonathan Hill, Jeffrey A.V. Hill, Stephanie Walters, Melissa Spasato, Brendan Gervais, great grandson Dev Dasi, several nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great great nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his siblings Kenneth Hill, Gwendolyn Grant and Elizabeth Decker. Calling Hours Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM with a Funeral Service at 2:30 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial in Abington Cemetery.
