Wallace J. Nichols Nov. 10, 1921 - Nov.15, 2014 St. Petersburg, FL - Wallace J. Nichols formerly of Dayville went home on November 15, 2014. He was born November 10, 1921 to the late Sid Ernest and Rose (Barber) Nichols. He served in WWII as a Merchant Marine. He received Campaign Ribbons for the Pacific War Zone, Atlantic War Zone; Mediterranean Middle East War Zone and the Victory medal. After serving he returned to Dayville and worked at several local businesses including Anchor Glass in Dayville and Racine Printing in Brooklyn. Survivors include his two; daughters, Sandra (Leavens) Pilcher of Tierra Verde, FL and Linda Leavens of Niantic; two grandsons, Marc Pilcher (wife Dawn) of Bradenton, FL and Christopher Pilcher (wife Michelle) of Forest Hill, MD; great - grandchildren Jack and Rebecca Pilcher; and two special nieces, Millie Molloy of Danielson and Francine Nichols of Dayville. He is predeceased by the love of his live Claire (Leavens) Nichols and four brothers: Sidney Nichols, Albert Nichols, Clarence Nichols, and Francis Nichols and two sisters: Dorothy Nichols and Mildred (Nichols) Ruuska. Christian Graveside burial will be November 20th at St. Joseph Cemetery, Dayville, CT at 11 A.M. There are no calling hours. The family asks in lieu of flowers to please send donations to the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard North, St Petersburg, FL 33744.
