Obituary of Ruth Margaret Hay
Woodstock-Ruth Margaret Sundstrom Hay, 87, of Woodstock died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Beloved wife of the late William "Scotty" Hay, he died in 2003, they were married in 1963. She was born on August 28, 1924 in Worcester, MA. Daughter of the late Bertil and Elvira (Swanberg) Sundstrom.
She graduated from Woodstock Academy then went to North Park College and Bible Institute. Ruth and her husband were very active members of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Woodstock. Early on Ruth worked summers at covenant churches in the Middle East Conference as a Bible School Director. After college she worked for Trinity Covenant Church of Manchester, Cromwell Children's Home as a counselor and later working for Day Kimball Hospital in the medical records department.
Ruth is survived by three step sons: Douglas Hay and his wife Gloria of Upland, CA; Bruce Hay and his wife Donna of East Killingly and Donald Hay and his wife Anna of East Killingly, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a step daughter Joan.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Woodstock, 24 Child Hill Road, Woodstock, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Ruth's memory to Benevolent Care Fund at Covenant Village, 52 Missionary Road, Cromwell, CT 06416.
