Obituary of Clarence H. Gaudette
BROOKLYN - Clarence H. Gaudette, 96 died Wednesday December 19, 2012 at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, in Brooklyn. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite "Peggy" (Pepin) Gaudette, they were married November 18, 1939 in St. James Church, Danielson and she died March 28, 1997. He was born November 9, 1916 in Brooklyn, son of Arthur and Georgianna (Goulet) Gaudette.
He attended local schools including St. James School. He worked in the textile industry, working at the former Quinebaug Mill and Powdrell and Alexander Mill, he also worked for the CCC Camps and on a WPA project. In 1941 he was employed by Electric Boat in Groton, where he was a welder. Mr. Gaudette went to work for Sears Roebuck in 1948 in Norwich as a manager. He established the Norwich Real Estate Agency, a business he operated for over 15 years and was an Arbor Homes Dealer. In 1967 he relocated to Dania, Florida and opened a Home improvement company that he ran for several years. Mr. Gaudette's final employment was working at a Public Super Market, he retired in 2007 and in 2008 he returned to Connecticut. He served with the Connecticut National Guard from 1938-1939. He was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson, a former communicant of St. Mary Church in Norwich and Church of the Little Flower in Hollywood, Florida. Clarence enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
He leaves his children Eileen Pawlikowski and her husband Arnold of Hampton; Richard Gaudette and his wife Judy of N. Franklin; grandchildren Deborah, Diane, Eileen and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings; Emile Gaudette; Doris Baker; Rita Gaudette; Norman Gaudette; Rudolph Gaudette; Raymond Gaudette; and two grandchildren David Pawlikowski and Allison Gaudette.
The Funeral will be Friday, December 28, 2012 at 9:00 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Calling Hours Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Funeral Home.
