Obituary of Cynthia Price Barlow

Cynthia Price Barlow, born January 3, 1939 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Carroll Price and Kathrene (Paquette) Price.  Cynthia was predeceased by her late husband Milton G. Barlow.

She graduated from Weaver High School with Honors in 1957, she also belonged to the National Honor Society. Cynthia went on to the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford where she attended a five-year program and graduated CUM LAUDE B.F.A. in 1962.  She was also awarded the Regents Honor Award, Art School Librarian, and the Connecticut Women’s Painter’s Association Exhibitor, the Alumni Award in 1962, and Book Awards all five years. She was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, 1961 – 1962. She was a past member of the Horace Bushnell Congregational Church in Hartford, Connecticut.

Cynthia had a true love for Art, she could often be found drawing or sketching while listening to Classical music, another form of art that she had a great appreciation for. When she wasn’t drawing, she also enjoyed planting flowers, cooking, and spending time at the family cottage at the lake. Most times at home, she could also be found sitting with a cat on her lap, or at least one very close by. She absolutely loved animals, but cats were by far her favorite.

Cynthia was loved and appreciated by many, she just had this warm and inviting smile, it was nearly impossible to not have a good time when she was around. The holidays were some of her favorite times, she really enjoyed spending time with family and extended family and friends. She will always be remembered for her famous Sugar Cookies, Baked Beans, and for some, her Ambrosia Salad, just to name a few. I am quite certain that Cynthia will be remembered by her Grandchildren for the amazing baskets that she would put together for them for the holidays, those were each a work of art themselves.

Cynthia leaves behind three children, Steven P. Barlow, whom she was predeceased by, Joel F. Barlow of Pomfret, CT., and Kevin M. Barlow and his girlfriend Michelle Linfield of Smithfield, RI. She also leaves behind 5 Grandchildren, Cecilia Taylor and her husband Noah of Newark, Delaware, Vincent Barlow and his Fiancé Bethany of Webster, MA, Joel Barlow Jr. of NH, Kevin Barlow Jr. and his girlfriend Courtney of Plainfield, CT, and Dylan Barlow and his girlfriend Brianna, also of Plainfield, CT. She also leaves behind a niece, Amanda Price and her husband Shawn of Washington State. Also 5 Great Grandchildren as well as other nephews. Cynthia was predeceased by her sister Jean (Price) Caron, and her brother, Dean Price.  She leaves behind two very special in-laws, her Brother-in-law Leroy Caron, and Sister-in-law Linda Price, both of Heathrow, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Cynthia’s name to Paws Cat Shelter, 240 Woodstock Ave, West Woodstock, CT 06281.
