Obituary of Lucien Desilets

Lucien Desilets, 95, of Danielson, CT passed away peacefully at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT on June 6th, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of the late Alice Desilets until her passing in 2013.  He was born in Burlington, VT on November 5th 1927, son of the late Henri and Anna (Leclair) Desilets.

Lucien lived in Burlington, VT for several years and attended St. Anthony School, later moving to Wauregan, CT attending Sacred Heart School and Plainfield High School.  He joined the army and served in the Occupation of Japan from 1946 - 1947, working in the Finance Department and later being honorably discharged.  

Lucien met the love of his life Alice Heon in 1947 on a blind date and married June 25, 1949.  They moved to Danielson, where they spent the rest of their lives raising three sons.  He was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson.

Following his service to his country, Lucien was employed at Jacob's Rubber as a machinist for 40 years, retiring in 1989.  He was also an avid golfer, golfing into his 90's, and loved hunting, fishing, and bowling.  

He leaves behind his son Michael Desilets and his wife Liisa of Tolland, CT, his granddaughter Anna Feeney and her partner Stephen of Franklin, CT, grandsons Justin Desilets and his partner Khadija of Wheat Ridge, CO and Tyler Desilets of Middletown, CT, great-granddaughters Simone Mendez of Griswold, CT and Isabella Dias and her husband Louis of Windham, CT, along with great-great grandchildren Nadja Genego, and Charlotte and Bear Dias.

Along with his wife Alice, Lucien was predeceased by his sons Donald Desilets and Richard Desilets and brothers Roger Desilets, George Desilets, and John Desilets.

A Calling Hour will be Monday, June 12, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Danielson, CT.
